Avon 3-Day Walk PledgePage - Cathy Swanson
60 Miles. 3 Days.
In August 2001, I had the honor of participating in a very special and powerful event in the fight against breast cancer. It was the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk in Seattle. Nearly 3,000 of us walked from the King County Fairgrounds in Enumclaw to the Seattle Center Memorial Stadium, and raised . . . $4.6 million! NET! for awareness and early detection of breast cancer, as well as treatment for those who can’t afford it. It was the experience of a lifetime, an opportunity to do something big, and I wasn’t about to miss out on the chance to do it again this year. In April 2002, I am walking from Carlsbad to San Diego in a brand new 3-day walk. Why am I walking? Besides the personal challenge, I am walking in gratitude for three wonderful women – Mom, Betty, and Millie – who are survivors, who are all still here so we can enjoy their company. I am walking in remembrance of victims and in support of those who are battling breast cancer. And I am walking in hope that through our efforts and your generosity, that this disease will be conquered forever. Last year I raised over $2,000 with help from you, or others just like you. The net proceeds from this event will support medical research on breast cancer, and non-profit health programs in every area of the country. Here’s where you fit in: -Click on the “donate” link – no contribution is too big or too small. You can even donate online! -Click on the “guestbook” link – has your life been touched by breast cancer in some way? Would you like me to walk in honor of, or in memory of, someone special who has been affected by breast cancer? Let me know! Training for this walk gives me a lot of time to be thinking of and praying for people. I would be honored to add more names to my list. Thank you for your generosity and support!
